Zaytoun celebrates 20 year milestone with new Co-op partnership

Zaytoun, the social enterprise supporting producers in Palestine through fair trade, has announced their Fairtrade certified organic extra virgin olive oil will now be stocked in 250 Co-op stores nationwide, a retailer known for its long-standing commitment to ethical sourcing and Fairtrade. The news comes as Zaytoun marks its 20th anniversary.

Zaytoun Extra Virgin Olive Oil is grown by small-scale farmers in the West Bank, where olive trees have been cultivated for centuries. The trees are rain-fed, and the olives are hand-picked, following practices passed down through generations. In 2009, this product became the first olive oil in the world to be Fairtrade certified, and in 2022, it won a prestigious Great Taste Award.

The 500ml Extra Virgin Olive Oil is now available retailing at £16.50 per bottle, bringing the story and heritage of Palestinian producers to more consumers.

Zaytoun Managing Director, Manal Ramadan White, says:

“As we celebrate 20 years of Zaytoun, we are thrilled to partner with Co-op, a retailer that shares our values of fair trade and community empowerment… This partnership opens crucial new market access for farmers in the West Bank, who face immense challenges yet remain resolute stewards of their land, safeguarding its precious biodiversity. As political and economic pressures mount, their small-scale, sustainable farming practices play a vital role in protecting their communities and preserving their way of life. Together, we’re ensuring that their stories, products, and heritage are seen and valued on UK shelves.”
