Supplier diversity ‘top of mind’ for buyers in Q3

A new body of research by retail platform RangeMe finds that supplier diversity, wellness and product discovery were ‘top of mind among buyers in Q3 as retailers seek new ways to entice consumers in the face of inflationary pressures’.

RangeMe’s Retail Roundup: Q3 2022 analyzes data from 15,000 retail buyers and 200,000 suppliers, highlighting the keywords and certifications searched by buyers, the collections they visited and the level of engagement with products and brands.

Certifications such as Certified Ethnic Minority Owned and Certified Women Business Enterprise were among the top searches in Q3, indicating that ‘diverse-owned brands remains a key point of interest among buyers’.

Certified Organic and Start-up Brands also ranked highly.

Among health and beauty buyers the keyword ‘fragrance’ was trending last quarter, along with ‘deodorant’, ‘bath salts’, ‘shower steamers’ and ‘candles’, indicating continued strong interest in self-care.

“RangeMe’s Retail Roundup provides a snapshot of what’s been on buyers’ minds over the past quarter, and where they are headed with their category planning,” comments Nicky Jackson, founder & CEO of the site. “With increasing prices and supply challenges worldwide, it’s clear that there is major interest in finding new and innovative products, particularly from diverse-owned and sustainability-focused brands.”
