Aiming to tap into the increasing demand for healthier crisp alternatives, British brand Sunmo has introduced a new line of hand-cooked, all-natural Plantain Crisps to the UK snack market.

The gluten-free, vegan-friendly Plantain Crisps from Sunmo are produced using just a handful of natural ingredients. The initial four varieties are: Naturally Sweet (plantain and sunflower oil); Sea Salt – a classic flavour combination of sweet and salty; Smoked Chilli which packs a punch with a balance of smoky and spicy flavours; and Sweet Cinnamon, offering a warm and spicy kick.

Plantain is rich in essential vitamins, minerals and nutrients, including potassium, magnesium, and vitamins A, C and B6. It is also high in fibre, has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, and is a rich source of easily digestible, complex carbohydrates, so can ward off hunger pangs for longer.

“We are thrilled to be launching our first range of all-natural, hand-cooked Plantain Crisps,” says Victoria Omobuwajo, founder and CEO of Sunmo. “The Brits are a nation of crisp-lovers and our mission at Sunmo is to revolutionize snacking in the UK by providing consumers with delicious and nutritious alternatives that satisfy their ‘crunch urge’.”

She adds that the snacks are also purpose-driven, with each pack of Sunmo sold providing a meal for an orphaned child in Nigeria.

The snacks have intially launched in Whole Foods Market and Selfridges.
