US natural products retailers see 15% sales growth

The natural and organic retail channel in the US is emerging from the recession in good health, according to Organic & Wellness News.

The magazine quotes a recent survey of 900+ natural supermarkets by US analysts SPINS which reported average sales growth of around 15% for the lost recent quarter.

Certain categories performed even better. Sales of certified organic products were up 18%, fair trade +19%, free-from +22% and Non-GMO Project Verification (a new label scheme conforming no GM ingredients) +21%.
