Natures Corner health food store in Newbury recently celebrated its 15th year anniversary with a ’15 days for 15 years’ event.
Founded in 1999 by Liz Chandler and her sister Caroline Withers, who sadly passed away four years ago, the business prides itself as being Newbury’s only independent health shop.
Chandler, who handed over the management reins to Anita Hatch when she semi-retired to Greece, returned for the event which took place from 1-15 October.
As well as instore promotions, massages and tastings, the store put out a bowl of crystals (which represent the 15th anniversary) so customers could choose one for free.
Highlights of the celebrations included a talk and cookery demonstration by medicinal chef Dale Pinnock at the local Arlington Arts centre – an event hosted in conjunction with Viridian – and an instore talk on gut health by Optibac’s Norm Brown.
A commemorative mural was also painted (live and instore) for the anniversary by local artist Stuart Roper. The four-panel work features Chandler and Hatch, as well as some of the store’s most valued suppliers including Viridian, Bounce, Natures Aid, Green People, Pukka, Jason, Optibac and Infinity, and now hangs on the wall of the store.
Chandler commented: “It was wonderful to be back to share the 15th anniversary celebrations with the Natures Corner team and also many of our loyal customers and friends, some of whom have been shopping with us since 1999. It was equally enjoyable to catch up with my friends from the health food industry and I feel so privileged that I’ve been able to experience the warmth within our amazing industry.”
