Here Comes The Sun … as Greenlife celebrates in style

Totnes-based independent Greenlife celebrated its 21st anniversary last weekend with a special birthday bash in the town’s historical market square.

Totnestians were out force for the one-off market, which was supported by many of the shop’s specialist suppliers.

Greenlife co-founder, Jamie Sermon, told Natural Products that the omens hadn’t looked good for the day. “The weather had been miserable and wet all week and we woke up to a cloudy, dark morning. But, amazingly, the clouds started to clear around nine, as my husband Mike sang Here Comes the Sun — really— and we ended up with a beautiful sunny day!”

As well as being able to meet and buy directly from 31 different natural and organic stallholders, shoppers enjoyed music and entertainment throughout the day and £2000 worth of raffle prizes generously donated by suppliers.

Business was brisk right through day, said Sermon. “We actually trebled our normal day’s takings in the store, and that’s aside from the brisk business being done on the stalls. But it was great fun too. Everyone wore fancy dress and really got into the spirit of the thing. All in all, a great success and a lovely way to celebrate our big birthday.”
