Nootropics and nutricosmetics are the two wellness and beauty trends predicted by Novastell to drive NPD in 2022.

The global specialist supplier of phospholipids to the beauty and supplements market believes nootropics and nutricosmetics are ‘promising products areas’, set to see strong future growth ‘as brand innovation and consumer demands align’ this year.

In 2020 the global nutricosmetics market was valued at $5.36 billion; by 2026 that is expected to reach $8 billion, while growth of the fast-moving nootropics category is predicted at a rate of 12.5% to 2025.

Beauty brands are betting on beauty- and brain-boosting products to drive skin health and wellness from within

“In order to innovate and capture vital consumer attention, product formulators are acknowledging that beauty brands are betting on beauty- and brain-boosting products to drive skin health and wellness from within. The goal is to integrate physical and mental health with beauty science,” explains Carla Felgueiras, global product manager of ingredients, Novastell.

“The global nutricosmetics market has experienced significant growth in the past few years. This will continue as consumers seek natural ingredients that promote beauty by ingesting beneficial or active ingredients. It is also worth noting that in terms of food supplement sales, skincare supplements are the second most popular carrier for products mentioning the term ‘nootropic’.”
