The Vegetarian Society has launched a Christmas recipe booklet and advent calendar online to help veggies tackle the festive season.
The free Christmas all wrapped up… booklet can be ordered online or downloaded and features some of the society’s best recipe ideas including party food, Christmas main courses to share, ways to use leftovers and desserts to finish off a festive meal. And this year there is a new recipe from celebrity cook, stylist and writer, Anna Jones, who was one of the first apprentices at Jamie Oliver’s restaurant, Fifteen.
The website’s Christmas section also has an online advent calendar so from 1 December through to Christmas day, a door will open to reveal a special veggie giveaway.
There are also tips and ideas to help you through the festive period as well as gift ideas.
“Christmas is a time to celebrate and we’ve picked our favourite recipes so you can relax and enjoy the festivities,” explained Alex Connell, principal tutor of the Vegetarian Society Cookery School. “Christmas all wrapped up… is full of warm, seasonal flavours – chestnuts, beetroot, cinnamon, leeks and hazelnuts – all you need to do is remember the roasties. While for the sweet-toothed individuals out there, how about mincemeat muffins or desserts bursting with raspberries, chocolate, orange and ginger? Don’t forget to visit www.vegsoc.org/christmas to open the advent calendar doors – where each day there’ll be a chance to take part in our Christmas give-aways.”
