Spoon Guru is a new app designed for people with food allergies or specific dietary needs – including those on a fitness regime – to help them find recipes and products suitable for their lifestyle.
The new app offers the most comprehensive choice of ingredients, products and recipes for those living with multiple food allergies, intolerances or specific dietary preferences.
The user creates a personal food profile by setting preferences against a list of more than 20 food intolerances and lifestyle diets. Spoon Guru then searches hundreds of thousands of food sources, curating ingredients, recipes and supermarket products exactly to the preferences of the user. By analysing ingredients in detail and then matching results, the app delivers food choices that cautious eaters can eat, rather than telling them what they can’t eat.
Analysing ingredients from its own database, the Web and product manufacturers, it selects a completely tailored range of suitable product choices and recipes, learning as it is used.
Spoon Guru’s barcode scanner speeds up grocery shopping process, enabling users to quickly scan products for allergens, instead of having to read the labels.
Markus Stripf, co-founder and CEO of Spoon Guru, says: “We are all unique and so are our allergies and dietary preferences. Someone with an egg allergy may also be a vegetarian who prefers a low-sugar diet. No matter how complex the need, Spoon Guru is designed to find food that’s just right for that person. We want to focus on what you can eat, rather than what you can’t.”
The app is initially available for iOS devices, with an Android version expected later this year.
The Spoon Guru app is available to download free from iTunes and is endorsed by Allergy UK.
