Herbal pioneer Pukka has launched the UK’s first exclusive collection of Ayurvedic skincare.
Pukka Ayurveda Skincare offers consumers a Soil Association-certified organic beauty system that includes effective cleansers and toners, nourishing moisturisers and enriching treatments.
“It’s a natural progression for us,” explains Tim Westwell from Pukka.
“For some time now we’ve made herbal solutions designed to benefit health that have been inspired by the philosophy and wisdom of Ayurveda. This range allows us to take that to the body’s largest organ – the skin. Promoting beauty from the inside and out has to be a good thing.”
“The range has got the highest level of organic ingredients out there,” he adds. “The packaging also has the highest level of post-consumer recyclable material on the market.”
Pukka has put its deep herbal knowledge into the skincare selection – which has been formulated by Pukka’s award-winning Ayurvedic practitioner and herbalist, Sebastian Pole.
To ensure maximum efficacy all ingredients have been extra concentrated. For example, each drop of gotu kola (a herb renowned for giving skin a revitalising boost) is concentrated to a 120:1 ratio.
Although Ayurvedic practices inform the range at every stage, Westwell points out that knowledge about the Indian philosophy isn’t a prerequisite for experiencing the benefits.
“People don’t have to know anything about Ayurveda to enjoy the products,” he says.
“They can simply read about the benefits on the packaging. However, if they want to delve deeper into the philosophy we’re happy to supply much more information.”
Pukka can offer a whole range of supporting materials to retailers – including a 100-page training manual and a leaflet through which retailers can help consumers work out their ‘dosha’ – which relates to skin type.
Westwell points out that this can be a great way for retailers to engage with consumers on the shop floor.
