Pop-up shopping mall pioneer BoxPark is set to open its second d-i-y retail development in 2016.

The first BoxPark – in essence, a pop-up shopping mall made out of shipping containers – launched in Shoreditch on 2011.

BoxpPark features regular events – 250 in a year – to complement its retail offer of cafés, delis, bars, greengrocers, butchers and bakers, along with fashion and lifestyle units.

The new BoxPark will situated opposite East Croydon station in south London, and this time it will 100% dedicated to food and drink. “The concept is not just about cafés, it’s about food culture too” says CEO Roger Wade.

BoxparkShoreditch2Speaking to The Grocer this week Wade said BoxPark would “positively discriminate” in favour of independent food retailers to fill the 70 available shop unit – the majority being “small, tiny independent retailers”.
