Pioneer organic farm and cereal producer Pertwood is expanding organic production on its Wiltshire farms.

Lower Pertwood Farm, which started its organic journey back in 1988, recently acquired the adjacent Manor Farm at Longbridge Deverill, which is currently conventionally farmed. Now, the farm’s directors say they have taken the decision to convert Manor Farm to organic production.

An important part of the farm’s commitment to organic farming lies with the direct benefits that it brings to wildlife habitats. In 2014, in keeping with this ethos, the farm will take 30 acres of land and dedicate it to permanent wildflower pasture meadows with the focus on creating an ideal habitat for bees.

As well as being a long-established organic farm – with 1850 acres, all certified by the Soil Association – Lower Pertwood Farm also has its own range of breakfast cereals distributed nationally under the Pertwood brand.
