A new user-friendly app called Cosmetri is being launched on 15 February aiming to help small cosmetic producers navigate through the complexities of the EU cosmetics regulations introduced in 2013.
The app is designed to help producers understand how to formulate products while at the same time staying compliant to the regulation – a major challenge, says the developer, for many smaller companies.
The Web-based app involves no contracts or set-up fees and requires no installation or updating. It will be accessible via all major Web browsers on PCs, laptops, tablets and smartphones.
Cosmetri founder Simon Bowen who funded the project himself and has invested 18 months’ of this time building the new services, says he has an understanding of the impact EU legislation has had on cosmetic businesses through working closely with Aromantic Ltd, providing IT solutions and business consulting services.
“Existing software solutions are just too expensive and lacking the features and usability that business owners need,” explained Bowen. “Cosmetri will simplify EU product compliance while streamlining cosmetic formulation workflows, which means that cosmetic makers can focus on what they do best.”
The core service provided by the Cosmetri app enables users to create compliant formulations and generate their PI files, including full traceability to ensure that batch changes stay compliant through PIF versioning. The Flight Checker runs over 70 checks, to warn the user of possible compliance issues, before they generate their Product Information file. Users can also control their raw materials costs and use Cosmetri to develop their trial formulations.
