Germany’s Permanent Secretary for Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection, Dr Robert Kloos, has urged the European Commission not to “strangle the organic sector with red tape”.
Referring to the current revision by the Commission of the EU Organic Regulation, Kloos said: “EU Organic revision is important but we must get it right and we must not abandon organic values. The emphasis should be on helping the production of healthy, sustainable and positive products.
“When you are developing legal frameworks some red tape is necessary but please do not strangle the organic sector, and please do not exaggerate issues.”
