The recent partnership between the National Association of Health Stores (NAHS) and the British Independent Retailers Association (bira) will be further strengthened with an exclusive at Natural & Organic Products Europe (NPE), when the two organizations will launch a new retailer initiative called Shop Talk.
Taking place at 1.00pm on 22 April, Shop Talk will offer indies a chance to network informally, discuss latest business advice and hear best practice ideas from leading bira retail experts. Topics are expected to include digital influence and rising retail crime.
Gary Trickett, NAHS chairman, says Shop Talk forms part of a three-year plan ‘designed to increase standards, education, profile, proliferation and communication’ for independent retailers.
Carol Dunning, NPE event director, adds: “This new initiative offers an ideal way to keep in touch with other health store retailers and experts who understand the challenges involved in running a successful independent store. It’s a great way to network and find out first-hand what other retailers are doing – what works and what doesn’t, what can work and what can’t.”

Speaking on behalf of bira, Sarah Arnesen comments that the association is ‘really pleased’ to be working closely with NAHS and NPE to offer ‘increased support to independent health stores across the UK’.
“The introduction of the brand new Shop Talk sessions will offer independent retailers an opportunity to discuss key industry matters with experts in an informal and educational setting. The bira team is looking forward to being on hand to offer advice and information on bira’s many services.”
