Entries are now open to Organic Monitor’s 2014 Sustainable Beauty Awards which launched last year and recognize firms which push the boundaries of sustainability in the beauty industry.

The five award categories each represent different aspects of sustainability: Green Formulations is for a cosmetic brand with a high level of natural and organic ingredients; Sustainable Packaging is for packaging with a lower environmental impact; Sustainable Ingredient is for a material that makes a significant difference in terms of environmental and/or social impact; Sustainability Pioneer is for an operator that leads in – or has pioneered – a specific area; and Sustainability Leadership.

The awards are open to all operators in the beauty industry, spanning cosmetic brands, ingredient firms, packaging companies, to industry organizations and associations.

The deadline for entries is 15 October and finalists will be notified by 31 October, with the winners announced at a dedicated awards reception in Paris on 24 November. The reception will take place alongside the European edition of the Sustainable Cosmetics Summit.

The 2013 awards received over 100 entries and the event organizer expects a similar response in 2014.

Amarjit Sahota, president of Organic Monitor, says: “Many beauty firms are seeking recognition of their ecological and societal commitments. As well as giving such recognition, we hope the Sustainability Beauty Awards continues to raise the sustainability bar in the beauty industry.”
