The Health Food Manufacturers’ Association (HFMA) has announced today that the HFMA is now accredited as a Living Wage Employer.
Living Wage Employer’s ensure that all employees are paid fairly, reflecting the real cost of living in London.
The HFMA’s Living Wage commitment will see everyone working at the HFMA receive a minimum hourly wage significantly higher than the government minimum for over 21s, a positive step towards improving financial well-being and quality of life for all HFMA employees.
The HFMA is based in the London area, a region where 13.3% of all jobs pay less than the real Living Wage – that’s 574,000 jobs.
Pippa Williams, HFMA Operations and HF Manager, comments, ‘We are excited to announce that HFMA is now accredited as a Living Wage Employer. This commitment ensures that our employees are paid fairly, reflecting the real cost of living in London. It’s a positive step towards improving financial well-being and quality of life for all HFMA employees.’
She adds, ‘We are all very proud to be a part of this important movement and demonstrate commitment to our highly valued staff.’
Katherine Chapman, Director, Living Wage Foundation comments: “We’re delighted that the HFMA has joined the movement of over 14,000 responsible employers across the UK who voluntarily commit to go further than the government minimum to make sure all their staff earn enough to live on.’
She adds, “They join thousands of small businesses, as well as household names such as Burberry, Barclays, Everton Football Club and many more. These businesses recognise that paying the real Living Wage is the mark of a responsible employer and they, like the HFMA, believe that a hard day’s work deserves a fair day’s pay.”
