Australian honey producer Gustare Honey has launched its range of mono-floral premium raw honeys in the UK.
Produced by artisan beekeepers, including brand co-founder Paul Costa, in Australia’s natural wilderness, each variety is produced seasonally in its own provenance and distinctive terroir.
The initial range incorporates: Delicate – Yellow Box; Mild – Grey Iron Bark; Rich – Stringy Bark; Strong – Apple Tree; and the soon to be launched Manuka -Jelly Bush.
Gustare Honey is planning to offer over 40 different honeys in the coming years, with different flavour profiles. Some are seasonal and others are rare due to the plant species, ie some eucalyptus trees, only flowering once every 15 years.
Company co-founder Jason Hayward-Jones, a farming and rural food expert, comments: “The range of honey we produce in Australia from its natural flora is quite wide, covering several different climatic zones, and the distinct terroir of the growing conditions is one of the many ways we differentiate ourselves from other brands on the shelves of UK retailers. Bees are essential for the pollination and production of many plant species essential in the human diet. Professionally managed, fit, healthy and vigorous bee colonies that ‘chase the pollen’ are one way in which we can overcome bee colony collapse disorder. The more bees the better, and the more apiarists’ heads in this the better!”
The brand has also announced its plan to launch a crowdfunding campaign on Crowdcube to give people the chance to invest in the future of the brand. “We are confident that with the initial funding, our unique product will fill a gap in the market for high quality, raw, single source, mono-floral honey,” Hayward-Jones adds.
