Eco-friendly period care brand FLO has announced that it has added The Brigid Alliance to its stable of charity partners.
The Brigid Alliance – a US charity that supports people’s access to abortion healthcare, including accommodation, childcare and travel – joins the brand’s other charity partners Bloody Good Period which fights period poverty, The Orchid Project which strives to end FGC, and akt, the youth homelessness charity for the LGBTQ+ community.
FLO already donates 5% of all profits to these organizations, but now its customers have the option to donate an additional 1% of their purchase to the charity partner of their choice.
At Here We Flo we believe in the right to choose what happens to our bodies
“Like most of the world, we were devastated to learn that, as suspected, the US Supreme Court overturned Roe v Wade, dismissing 50 years of precedent and making access to abortion possibly illegal in over half the country,” says FLO co-founder Susan C Allen. “At Here We Flo we believe in the right to choose what happens to our bodies, and despite the debate and politicization of the issue, abortion is healthcare. While the fight to regain these rights and protect others like same sex marriage and interracial marriage will continue, we wanted to help provide immediate support for abortion access.
“Through our partnership with Beam, our customers can contribute 1% of their purchase to The Brigid Alliance, along with our other wonderful charity partners the Orchid Project, Bloody Good Period and akt. We will match their donations this quarter with a donation of our own. Although our HQ is in the UK, our hearts are with our fellow feminists across the pond, and we continue to pledge our support in this fight, and those to come.”
