Eco-cleaning product manufacturer Bio-D has reported an increase in demand for its Allergy UK approved fragrance free products, as the number of people living with an allergy continues to rise.

The range, which consists of unscented cleaning and laundry products, now sits among the brands top sellers across all categories. Sales for the categories, which includes laundry liquid, fabric conditioner, washing up liquid and handwash, are also up year-on-year.

This comes as the amount of people living in the UK with an allergy is set to increase in 2026 from one in three to just one in two. Allergy UK states that allergies cost the NHS more than £900 million per year to manage, with the UK ranking in the top three countries globally for the highest incidence of allergies.

Lloyd Atkin, managing director at Bio-D said: “Creating products that are suitable for those with allergies and sensitive skin has always been a priority for us and over the past few years especially we have seen that allergy-friendly products are becoming an essential for a growing number of people.

“Over half of all Bio-D sales are fragrance free products. Also, more than 50% of our laundry liquid sales are fragrance free – we’ve seen a 23% increase on this product in the last year alone. Our fragrance free Washing Up Liquid sales are up by 22% year-on-year, alongside our fragrance free Handwash, sales for which have increased by 12% since 2024.”

Hunish Sembhi, head of endorsements at Allergy UK, added: “With the UK having one of the highest rates of allergy in the world, the need for accessible, evidence-based guidance becomes ever more critical. Allergy UK’s Endorsement Schemes provide consumers with confidence when choosing products that may be better tolerated by those living with allergy.”

A range of Bio-D’s fragrance free products have been approved by Allergy UK, which means they are ‘unlikely to cause a reaction and are beneficial for allergy sufferers based on expert opinion’.

Lloyd continues: “We make sure that all our products are created from 100% plant based and naturally derived ingredients, leaving out chemicals that are known to lead to skin irritation and allergic reactions.”
