Weleda UK has announced Jayn Sterland as the company’s new managing director, commencing her role this week.
Sterland joined Weleda in 2008 as marketing manager and was most recently commercial director for Weleda UK, sharing the management directorship with Roger Barsby, operations director, who is now retiring after 35 years at the company.
Commenting on her new appointment, Sterland said: “I am delighted to lead such an important and iconic brand as Weleda. Our founder Rudolf Steiner’s mission was for Weleda products to be widely available to everyone, to help us lead healthier lives. As we head towards the 100th anniversary of this vision, this is more important than ever before. We have great plans for the brand and some fantastic new products in the pipeline that will make Weleda a household name in the UK.”
Dr Peter Brändle, Weleda’s regional director for Western Europe, said: “Established in 1926, the UK was amongst the first international markets the Weleda Group expanded into, and remains a key market for us in which we see an even bigger potential. I am extremely happy that Jayn Sterland has accepted the challenge. Jayn truly knows our brand inside out and clearly puts our retailers, consumers, patients and prescribers at the heart of the organization. With that and her great team, I am sure that British activities, from creative marketing projects to product innovation, will continue to radiate way beyond the UK.”
