Cornish organic skincare company Trevarno is bringing a bit of South American wisdom to the South West with its new Crabwood and Lemongrass soap.

The soap launches Trevarno’s new Rainforest Partnership range, a programme set up to exchange knowledge between the company and the Macushi, a South American tribal community in Guyana.

For each bar sold, 20p of the £3 RRP goes straight back to the South American community, helping to preserve endangered rainforests.

The oil of the Crabwood tree has been used for over 7,000 years by the Amerindians for a variety of skincare remedies and medicinal purposes which have been passed down through the generations. Crabwood oil is only harvested once a year from the seeds of a tree called the ‘treasure of the forest’ and often only found in the most remote of locations.

For the Crabwood soap, the wild oil has been blended with other pure ingredients including Lemongrass, Sage and Rosewood and Cocoa Butter.
