Acai superfood brand Sambazon has secured its first major UK listing for its fresh Acai bowl offering with Whole Foods Market.

The brand’s Acai bowl machine – which is designed to produce over 200 ready-to-eat bowls of fresh Acai every hour – will be installed at the retailer’s Kensington and Piccadilly Circus sites.

The Acai bowls will be topped with healthy ingredients such as granola, berries and coconut shavings.

This London-based listing is the first time the product has been available to UK consumers and marks the start of vigorous UK growth plans by the brand.

“The Acai bowl movement is quickly gaining momentum in Britain, as functional foods with added health benefits remain popular and the trend towards Brazilian culinary influences takes hold,” commented Alistair Cullen, Sambazon’s UK commercial director. “However, despite an increasing number of restaurants and cafes backing these trends, fresh and high quality Acai is still relatively unattainable. It’s therefore Sambazon’s aim to bring this superfood to the masses, offering consumers, retailers and food service outlets alike something innovative, tasty and above all healthy.

“We’ve witnessed incredible triumphs in America and are hugely excited to replicate this success in the UK, where we hope to see similar sales results and grow the UK Acai category.”
