Next month Meridian Foods is launching the first ever Dry Roasted Peanut Butter, aiming to offer peanut butter fans a completely new taste.

Made with 95% roasted peanuts, 4% yeast extract and 1% salt, the new peanut butter comes in 280g jars and extends the current range, which includes crunchy and smooth variants of Peanut Butter, Cashew Butter and Almond Butter. The butters don’t use palm oil as an ingredient.

“We’re delighted to be launching a dry roasted variant and broadening the Meridian Nut Butter offer,” commented Sue McIntosh, marketing manager at Meridian Foods, on the launch. “We always seek to be ahead of the field and with interest in our nut butters increasing are continually looking at ways to bring fresh ideas to the category. Combining our Peanut Butter and Meridian Yeast Extract to create a savoury spread for toast and rice cakes seemed liked a logical step and one that we believe will have lots of appeal.”

Meridian peanut butter is the third largest-selling peanut butter in the UK and sales for the rapidly expanding brand doubled to £2.52 million this year.
