Essential Trading has delisted Rachel’s Organics in favour of Brown Cow Organics.

The decision follows news that Rachel’s has been added to the Nestlé Boycott List (Rachel’s Organics is part of LNCD, a company jointly owned by dairy multinational Lactalis and Nestlé).

In a statement, Essential Trading said that it had made the switch as the Nestlé group’s business ethics did not meet with its own strict ethical code.

“We were sorry to see Rachel’s Organics go to Nestlé and really can’t support that business model by distributing its goods,” says Eli Sarre, marketing manager at Essential Trading.  “While the product quality is excellent, the ethics of its parent company aren’t acceptable to us,” she explained

Essential is now offering Brown Cow Organics’ live organic yoghurts in both the 155ml individual serving size and the larger 500ml pots.  In addition to having an excellent range, Brown Cow Organics is local to Bristol-based Essential Trading, thus transport costs and pollution are minimised.
