Doves Farm Foods is tapping into the growing trend for artisan bread making by adding Organic Wholemeal Emmer Flour and Organic White Rye Flour to its range of heritage flours.

Since 1978, Doves Farm has been at the forefront of reintroducing historic flours to the UK, growing the country’s first spelt crop nearly 20 years ago. Company founders Michael and Clare Marriage say they are passionate about expanding the repertoire of the British public and encouraging trial of new flours made from ancient grains.

Doves Farm Organic Wholemeal Emmer Flour (with an RRP of £3.25 for a 1kg bag) is milled from what is believed to be one of the oldest cultivated grains, dating back 20,000 years. Doves Farm Organic White Rye Flour (£1.65 for 1kg), meanwhile, is naturally low in gluten and easier to knead than dough made with traditional ‘dark’ rye.

The new flours, which are suitable for Kosher diets, are just reaching shelves of independent retailers and health stores.
