Chilli sauce producer Capsicana has branched out, launching a range of Latin American cooking sauces in a bid to bring innovation and authenticity to the category.

The four-strong offer comprises a first-to-market Chilli & Lemon Peruvian Cook Sauce; a Chilli & Coconut Brazilian sauce; and two Mexican varieties – Chilli & Garlic and Chilli & Honey.

The two-serve sauces target time-poor consumers looking for convenient, yet authentic meals they can create at home and features two recipes on each pack.

Citing the increasing demand for Latin flavours as the reason for the expansion –burrito outlets are now the UK’s fastest growing type of eatery – the range is complemented by a new pack design to improve the brand’s on-shelf presence.

“Compared to what’s happening with Latin American food in the streets of our cities – whether it’s street food festivals, gourmet food trucks or high street restaurants – the retail market is seriously lagging behind,” explained Capsicana’s founder Ben Jackson. “That’s because it’s been dominated by two massive players for years and, as a result, there’s been precious little innovation or commitment to authenticity.

“However, with the country riding a Mexican culinary wave and Latin food proving increasingly popular, we’re ideally placed to take advantage. We’re aiming to shake things up in retail and bring some sophistication and flavour to the sector. The British public absolutely loves this food; it’s time they were able to enjoy it at home.”
