Soil Association Certification has publicized its panel of judges for this year’s BOOM Awards.
Now in their tenth year, the BOOM Awards continue to run on alternate years, celebrating excellence across organic food, drink, farming, beauty, wellbeing, fashion and textiles. Judges for the food and drink categories will meet in Bristol in April and May 2023, with all other categories assessed remotely.
Food and drink hopefuls will be judged on taste and quality by a panel comprised of: Romy Gill MBE, chef, author and broadcaster; Great British Bake Off contestant Briony May Williams; Jenny Chandler, food writer and teacher; Xanthe Clay, chef and author; Shonette Laffy, writer and blogger; and Andy Clarke, food and drink expert and judge of the Great Taste Awards.
In the beauty and wellbeing categories the winning entries will be decided upon by Scott Wimsett, beauty and fashion director and advisory board member for the Sustainable Beauty Coalition; Amerley Ollennu, beauty journalist; and Janey Lee Grace, radio DJ and author of the Imperfectly Natural series. All product information submitted by entrants will be considered before the top three finalist products for each sub-category are put to the test.
Marie Claire’s Lisa Oxenham, Soil Association Certification’s Alex Cullen and Jerry Alford, and PKF Francis Clark director Steve Ashworth – who is a board member of Feeding Bristol and a judge for the Guild of Fine Food – will act as the executive judging committee, holding final say in judging panels, decisions and criteria.
