Bob: The world’s first refillable hard body wash set to transform male grooming

A new personal care product is set to launch today (Thursday 13th February) with the introduction of Bob, described as the world’s first refillable hard body wash. Offering an alternative to traditional liquid body wash and soap bars, the product combines washing and exfoliation in a single design.

With the UK male grooming market valued at over $11 billion, Bob’s developers aim to provide a more sustainable and practical option. The product features a first-of-its-kind applicator with medical-grade bristles and a refillable wash bar.

The founders of Bob—Mike Brennan, Will Richards, and Max Agace—developed the product in response to concerns over plastic waste generated by bottled body washes and the inefficiency of liquid soaps, which contain up to 70% water.

The Bob system consists of three main components:

  • The Applicator: A refillable device with medical-grade bristles intended to enhance lather, exfoliate the skin, and control soap usage. Its waterproof casing prevents leaks, making it portable.
  • The Bob Bar: A body wash bar formulated with shea butter and coconut oil to support skin hydration while maintaining the skin’s pH balance. The bar is available via a subscription service.
  • The Shower Mount: A wall-mounted storage solution that keeps the applicator secure and allows the bar to drain between uses.

Bob is designed for longevity, with each applicator capable of withstanding 3,650 washes—equivalent to two showers a day for five years. This durability, combined with its refillable nature, aims to reduce environmental waste associated with disposable plastic bottles.

The product has generated significant interest before its official release, with over 3,000 pre-orders and nearly 10,000 newsletter subscribers.
