Alara has launched Superfoods Wholesale, a one-stop online marketplace offering an easy and convenient way to purchase bulk health ingredients.
“We felt that there was a huge gap in the market for buying health foods in bulk, fuss-free,” says Alara MD Alex Smith, explaining the reason behind the new site. “As a manufacturer, we come across many people who aren’t able to commit to our minimum order quantities or our account-set up procedure. We have all the ingredients in-stock in our on-site warehouse already, so it was a no-brainer to open up an online portal where people can buy these ingredients from us, hassle-free.”
Smith adds: “It’s a convenient go-to site for start-ups, small food businesses, market stall holders and coffee-shop owners alike. With no account-setup, customers can use it as they would any other online shop – there’s absolutely no paperwork, minimum quantities or commitment involved.”
The site stocks what Smith describes as a huge range of nuts, seeds, dried fruit, sweeteners, superfoods and cereals, spanning organic, Fairtrade and free-from. It offers the same ingredients the company uses in its Alara Cereals, Pertwood Cereals, Lucy Rocks and Of The Earth Superfoods products, but in packs of 1kg up to 25kg, depending on the product. As a BRC AA grade manufacturer all the ingredients pass rigorous quality checks, with product specifications available online.
“Customers can have faith that they’re purchasing from a trusted, experienced company,” explains Smith. “We’ve been in the business for over 40 years, and in that time we’ve built relationships with farmers and ingredient suppliers who provide us with high quality, cost-efficient ingredients.”
Superfoods Wholesale offers delivery as well as click-and-collect from its Kings Cross site for those who are based in London. “So far, most of our orders have been delivered, rather than collected,” says Smith, “demonstrating that people want a cheaper, more convenient option than usual bulk deliveries. Our best-sellers so far are Maca Powder, Organic Gluten-Free Scottish Oats and Organic Roasted Hazelnuts.”
So what does the future hold for the new site? “As a company, we stock over 200 ingredients, so we’ll more than likely be adding more product to the site, slowly but surely. We truly believe in Superfoods Wholesale growing and becoming the store for convenient, bulk-buy healthy and organic ingredients in the UK.”
