Natural brand Ksoni (Sanskrit for ‘earth’) has developed what it says is the UK’s first ‘shampoo in a can’ in a bid to reduce single-use plastics in bathrooms across more UK.
The Ksoni collection – which also includes conditioners and body washes – was created after co-founders Joti Sohi and Banasa Williams were unable to find high quality sustainable products that adequately met the needs of the black, Asian and minority ethnic (BAME) community.
Using natural Ayurvedic ingredients infused with essential oils, the range has been created for a wide variety of hair and skin types, and all three products are available in:
- Jivati [Rejuvenate] – formulated to refresh and balance with bergamot, frankincense and jojoba oils
- Unati [Hydrate] – deeply moisturizing for dry hair and skin, infused with ylang ylang, lavender and argan oils
- Zakti [Invigorate] – a fresh blend with a hint of citrus, infused with grapefruit, lemon, sandalwood and grapeseed oils
“Sustainability is at the heart of our business,” says Williams. “However, sustainability only works when more people can be involved, so we created a brand that will appeal to a diverse audience. There is a desire from people to change their habits, but the products need to solve a problem. Ksoni provides effective and superior plastic-free natural products that can be used for issues affecting a wide range of hair and skin types.”
All items are vegan and packaged in aluminium cans, chosen by the brand because it sees this solution as fitting ‘seamlessly within the current infrastructure and is back on the shelves within six weeks’. There is also a Ksoni cap available to prevent spillage and provide a precision pour, which is made from recycled wood fill and cornstarch-based PLA.
The company will have B Corp certification by the end of the year.
