Formula Botanica has announced the launch of its first make-up course in what it calls a ‘breakthrough move’ in natural cosmetic formulation.

Following over two years of research and development, the training school has proved it’s possible to use innovative plant pigments to formulate all-botanical colour make-up that performs like its mainstream counterparts. The short course will cover the science of these pigments and practical skills in botanical colour cosmetics such as lipstick and blushers.

Formula Botanica is also offering the course as a masterclass training within its members-only continuing professional development (CPD) site, The Lab at Formula Botanica, which runs monthly ‘Mini Labs’ or in-depth training modules on specialized topics covering advanced natural cosmetic formulation, innovative ingredients and beauty industry trends and business skills.

Commenting on the move, Formula Botanica CEO Lorraine Dallmeier says: “We have been undertaking R&D on botanical make-up for years and decided that the best way to help our community crack the complexity of formulating organic make-up with plant pigments was to do it bit by bit. The Lab model is ideally suited to this approach.”
