Faith In Nature, a pioneer in natural personal care, has released its 2024 Impact Report, reaffirming its commitment to environmental sustainability and corporate responsibility. The report highlights key achievements in reducing waste, cutting carbon emissions, and reshaping the beauty industry’s approach to sustainability.

Founded over 50 years ago in Rivka Rose’s kitchen, Faith In Nature has evolved into a global leader in sustainable beauty. Its eco-friendly products are now available in 40 countries, making natural personal care more accessible than ever.

“Our mission is to help people make better choices for themselves and the planet, every day. 2024 was a year of new beginnings with our new manufacturing site unlocking opportunities to transform our efficiency and improve our impact. We also embarked on our journey to leave plastic behind, reformulated our products to contain even more active naturals and appointed a new Nature Guardian to our Board of Directors, to name just a few of the things we did to increase our positive impact on the natural world,” shares Laura Ford, Sustainability Director at Faith In Nature

Key sustainability milestones

Faith In Nature’s 2024 achievements set new standards in eco-conscious business practices:

  • New 100% recycled aluminium bottles – sales so far have replaced half a tonne of plastic.
  • Strengthening Nature-connected decision-making with the appointment of new Nature Guardian, Dr Juliet Rose of the Eden Project.
  • Reducing the company’s carbon footprint year-on-year through energy efficiency measures and alternative materials.
  • Operating manufacturing facilities on 100% renewable energy, by working with Energy Garden, reinforcing its commitment to sustainability.
  • Expanding partnerships with environmental charities such as the Sumatran Orangutan Society, TreeSisters, and the World Land Trust to restore natural habitats and promote biodiversity.

Faith In Nature made history in 2022 by appointing Nature to its Board of Directors – an unprecedented move that formalised Nature’s role in corporate decision-making. This initiative ensures that every business decision considers environmental impact first and saw other brands like House of Hackney follow suit.

Now, with Dr Juliet Rose who has a background in nature recovery and ecological restoration, serving as Nature Guardian, the company continues to embed Nature-positive thinking into its operations. This approach is already delivering results, including an 11% increase in sales and a 30% uplift in aluminium bottle sales, proving that sustainability and profitability can go hand in hand.

Dr Juliet Rose shares: “We are showing that it is possible to recognise and the respond to the important role nature plays in business. Faith In Nature is setting an example for other companies to follow by making decisions that are informed even inspired by nature not just led by profit.”

In alignment with the Government target of net zero by 2050, Faith In Nature are doing all they can, with significant reductions already achieved. In 2024, the company reduced its scopes 1 & 2 carbon footprint from 124.5 to 117.57 metric tonnes of CO2e by transitioning away from gas and diesel use.

Faith In Nature continues to push boundaries in sustainable packaging. The company’s 100% recycled aluminium bottles not only eliminate plastic waste but also require 95% less energy to produce compared to virgin aluminium. All bottles between 300ml and 1L currently consist of 100% post-consumer recycled plastic,  whilst the larger 5L and 2.5L bottles have transitioned to 35% recycled plastic to tackle durability challenges without compromising sustainability.

The company is also piloting recycling initiatives, such as repurposing label backing paper into new labels and exploring closed-loop solutions for returned plastic bottles.

Beyond its products, Faith In Nature is actively driving systemic change. The brand remains a Certified B Corp and supports legislative initiatives like the Better Business Act and the Climate and Nature Bill, pushing for stronger corporate accountability in sustainability.

Additionally, Faith In Nature is collaborating with the University of Sydney to research the impact of its Nature On the Board initiative, providing valuable insights into nature-led governance in business.

Faith In Nature’s Impact Report serves as a rallying cry for the beauty industry to embrace sustainability. The brand urges other companies to:

  • Re-evaluating their packaging choices and investing in sustainable alternatives.
  • Reducing carbon emissions through renewable energy adoption.
  • Embedding environmental responsibility at the core of business strategies.
  • Supporting policies that drive corporate accountability in sustainability.
