As the world moves towards a post-pandemic phase of the coronavirus crisis, expert speakers at Natural & Organic Products Europe (NOPEX) prepare to offer insights into how retailers can recover and thrive after the unprecedented challenges of the past two years.

With strategic resilience and crisis management crucial to economic recovery, representatives from the Soil Association (SA), Planet Organic, BioCare, Natural Products News, the Cosmetic, Toiletry & Perfume Association (CTPA), the Vegan Society and more will present consumer research and recommend tools and tactics to help businesses ‘capitalize on new opportunities in the sector’.

Two bodies of work will be examined on stage at the show: in a panel chaired by Alison Muirhead, business development manager, SA, post-pandemic insights from the Organic Market Report 2022 will be discussed – including shopper habits and the strength of online trade; and visitors will be privy to an in-depth first look at ‘wave two’ of the Vegan Society’s COVID-19 Pandemic Report, a month before it is released to the public.

Chris Newbold, head of nutrition strategy at BioCare, will address how new public health demands can be met by retailers through the products they stock; subjects to be covered include mental health, immunity, long-COVID and energy.

Dr Marilyn Glenville’s talk will focus on the ‘silent pandemic’ of type 2 diabetes – how missed diagnoses during lockdowns led to a global crisis of its own and the diet and lifestyle factors which can help prevent and treat this increasingly common disease.

Other health talks include two sessions from Viridian Nutrition: Phil Beard, technical educator, will present the latest evidence on magnesium; and Dr Jenny Goodman will demonstrate nutrition’s role in combatting the effects of pollution.
