The Organic Trade Board (OTB) has confirmed that popular industry event Wake Up to Organic will return on 7 June.

The return of the one-day Wake Up to Organic campaign sees the OTB partner with Clearspring to celebrate organic products through a coordinated national breakfast event hosted by independent retailers up and down the country.

Until 2020, when the coronavirus pandemic hit, thousands of mini organic breakfasts would be served annually to health store customers as the industry introduced shoppers to the benefits of starting the day with organic food and drink. Now, after a hiatus during COVID, brands and shops ‘continue to ask for its return’, says the OTB, which partnered with Clearspring to ‘listen to the call and bring it back’.

Positioning the 2023 edition as a ‘soft relaunch’ the OTB has confirmed the participation of 50 independents, each of whom will use the OTB/Clearspring sampling packs to create a variety of organic breakfast options.

Retailers can share their creations on social media using the hashtag #WakeUpToOrganic and by tagging @organicUK and @clearspringUK. The ‘best three spreads’ will receive a Go Organic hamper of products to share with staff, plus a free one-year membership with the OTB.

Clearspring and the OTB hope to engage the public in this year’s campaign by sharing a series of organic recipes in the weeks leading up to 7 June, and will be gifting hampers to ten competition winners who post about how they ‘wake up to organic’.
