SURREAL brings back Cillit Bang icon for new marketing campaign

BANG. AND THE DIRT – UH – SUGAR – IS GONE.

Surreal Cereal, the playful cereal brand on a mission to make breakfast tasty and healthy has brought back Cillit Bang icon Barry Scott for an outrageous parody advert.

The high protein cereal company have launched a brand new advert, starring Neil Burgess – the actor behind Barry Scott, the overly-enthusiastic face of Cillit Bang bleach commercials from the early 2000s.

This time however, Burgess is playing “Gary Scott” – insisting that he is “a completely new character” despite being suspiciously similar to the classic cleaning product salesman.

In the advert, Gary Scott claims to not care about dirty ovens or clean pennies – instead banging on about how Surreal is high protein and zero sugar. Featuring raw eggs, broken blenders and more shouting than your average football match, the advert certainly delivers the message with a BANG. Or should that be “Bosh” as is Gary’s slogan?

Co-founder Jac Chetland said “A high protein cereal like ours deserves a high octane presenter, and they don’t come higher-octane than Neil. We’re absolutely buzzing that he agreed to the role, and he was such fun to work with. Any similarities to other characters in the Neil Cinematic Universe is just a coincidence.”

Now the fastest growing cereal brand in the UK, Surreal’s high protein cereals are available from their website, as well as Sainsbury’s, the Co-Op, Ocado and Holland and Barrett. The Gary Scott advert was written by Surreal’s in-house team, filmed by Nusa Studios, and starred Neil Burgess and Amy Spinks.
