UK organic businesses can expect ‘a welcome online boost’ as certified organic products now have the opportunity to enhance their trade as part of Amazon’s sustainability programme, says Soil Association Certification.

Launched this month on Amazon, the collaboration by the world’s largest online retailer and the UK biggest organic certifier aims to ‘make it easier for shoppers looking for sustainable products to find them and to know that they have been independently audited and certified’.

Being part of the initiative enables Soil Association licensees to trade on Amazon with the verified Climate Pledge Friendly badge displayed alongside their listings, allowing them to reach millions of shoppers who are actively seeking certified sustainable products which ‘preserve the natural world’.

It is an important step in recognizing those companies who are genuinely committed to embracing and furthering climate friendly operations through organic

The programme began in the US and now extends to the UK, France, Germany, Italy and Spain; European customers can now access over 100,000 Climate Pledge Friendly products, including household, health and food categories. Pukka Herbs, Clipper, Arla and Rachel’s Organics are among the existing Soil Association licensee which are ‘selling successfully via Amazon and are now part of the programme’.

Georgia Phillips of Pukka comments: “We’re delighted that the Soil Association Certification is joining Amazon’s Climate Pledge Friendly. It is an important step in recognizing those companies who are genuinely committed to embracing and furthering climate friendly operations through organic. By buying organic, you’re casting a vote with every pound you spend for products that are best for us, for nature and for the planet. It’s great that together, we put this at the forefront of consumers’ minds.”
