As part of its Generous Revolution initiative, Quinola is rebranding its line of organic quinoa grains in July with new packaging celebrating the people with learning disabilities who pack its products.

Each pack will feature a hand-drawn portrait, introducing consumers to Karine, Patricia, Sebastien and David, who are employed in Quinola’s Le Havre workshop in France, where the brand works with a social mobility programme.

The company says that only 5.6% of adults with learning disabilities are currently in work and that one in three adults with learning disabilities feel they are discriminated against. At Quinola’s workshop, each role is adapted to suits the needs of the individual and workers are offered the chance to move within their roles if they want to try something new.

Quinola believes that placing these workers on pack will serve to demonstrate that businesses can fight for social justice and equity across all aspects of business and production. Currently employing 21 workers at the workshop, the company aims to double this number by 2023.

The rebrand will also see the launch of Quinola’s first fully recyclable packaging made of a single material plastic that can be recycled in UK supermarkets across and certified plastic neutral by RePurpose Global.
