In what it says is the first such offer in the UK, London-based Planet Organic has expanded its sustainable food offering with a collection of organic sushi.
The supermarket highlights that a lot of sushi on the market isn’t as healthy as consumers may imagine, containing MSG, additives and unsustainably sourced fish. Planet Organic says its new sushi collection aims to combat these issues, with the provenance of its organic ingredients – including organically farmed fish – making the range ‘a cut above the rest’.
As well as ten organic fish options, the initial 14 sushi dishes available include four vegan dishes – a development which Planet says represents a ‘big step forward for sushi lovers who favour a plant-based diet’.
The launch of our organic sushi range is the latest step for us on the journey to a more sustainable future
The dishes include Salmon & Chive Onigiri, Black Rice Avocado Roll, Natsu Sushi, Smoked Tofu & Turmeric Kraut Roll, Teriyaki Salmon Tempura Rice, Salmon Sashimi and Beetroot Rice & Tofu Roll.
“The launch of our organic sushi range is the latest step for us on the journey to a more sustainable future, while maintaining the high standards of delicious, convenient food which our customers have come to expect from Planet Organic,” explains Sophie Davies, the retailer’s senior buyer, fresh food and drink. “We’re really excited to be initially launching the 14 dishes and have plans to expand the range in the future, so watch this space.”
