My Sauce is a new three-strong range of spicy sauces suitable for vegetarians, vegans and coeliacs and, says the brand, set to rival Levi Root’s Reggae Reggae Sauces.

Inspired by his Caribbean roots, the sauces were developed by Waltham Forest bus driver and former DJ Gilchrist Thomas in his kitchen, and comprise: a Hot Scotch Bonnet sauce; a Mild Scotch Bonnet sauce; and a Spicy Pineapple Marinade.

Hot Scotch Bonnet is described as a fruity table sauce with a kick of hot chilli for those who like to really liven up their food, and Mild Scotch Bonnet is a sweet and fruity table sauce with a mild chilli kick which doesn’t overpower, but compliments food. Both products can be used as a condiment but can also be used to spice up vegetarian and vegan meals.

The Spicy Pineapple Marinade has a medium to hot chilli flavour with a sweet fruitiness from the pineapple. It can be used for meat and fish or vegetables, and is great for summer BBQs.

Explaining what inspired him, Gilchrist says: “Having learned cooking skills from my sisters and family members, I used to experiment with different seasonings and ingredients to create sauces. Many of my friends complimented my sauces and were always encouraging me to, one day, turn it into a business.”

The vegetable-based sauces are gluten free, free from allergens, low calorie and contain no artificial additives or preservatives.
