Green’s Health in Lincoln, which has been operating in the city since 1909, has been put up for sale by current manager and proprietor Karen Boulton.
Having been located in different areas of Lincoln during its 114 years, the independent health food store moved to St Mary’s Street in 2014 and Boulton purchased the business 15 years ago.

“I jumped at the chance to own a business I’d worked in since about 1995, and was passionate about,” she says. “I sell a large range of supplements – Lamberts, Pharma Nord, Viridian, Natures Aid, Bioforce to name but a few – toiletries like Faith in Nature, JASON, lavera, Natura Siberica, Weleda and a range of refills, as well as a selection of food, nuts, seeds, pulses and teas. I only stock products that I would use myself and believe in.”
The store is situated in a central location, across the road from the train station and near the bus station and Boulton says she has a good core of local customers including Lincoln’s ‘strong student population’.
The time has come for Boulton to move on, she tells NPN, and let someone else take over Green’s Health. “Things are getting far too technical for me and the shop needs someone who understands the new way of shopping, Facebook, Instagram, websites, etc,” she says, adding: “I’d love to see Greens go on for another 114 years, it’s part of Lincoln’s history.”
