As well as launching new environmentally friendly packaging, Primrose’s Kitchen has announced that all its products are now 100% organic.
As of this month, the full range of the brand’s muesli, granola and porridge will be packaged in home-compostable bags, with a recycled/recyclable cardboard box.
The fully compostable bags are Vincotte-certified and can be added to home compost or food waste bins, making Primrose’s Kitchen the first cereal brand in the UK to offer such packaging, it says. The height of the cardboard box packaging has also been reduced by 17%, resulting in less material usage, but the weight of box remains the same.
“At Primrose’s Kitchen we believe that our environment is just a reflection of ourselves,” comments brand founder Primrose Matheson. “Loving, preserving and protecting our environment comes only from honouring ourselves in the same way. Living and working in the beautiful Dorset countryside, I really appreciate how lucky we are to have these unspoiled areas of nature that can revive and uplift us.”
Regarding the move to organic, she adds: “Organic farming is sustainable farming and we believe organic farmers need to be supported, and the practices of organic farming bought back to the mainstream. We look to a future where all produce is 100% organic and we hope that our move to organic is a step in this direction.”
