22-year-old Birmingham University student Marija Sakalauskaite has received funding from the European Regional Development Fund to start a natural skincare company, Skin You Love.
Sakalauskaite won the funding through participation in the SPEED Plus project, organized by BCU Business School, and is now working on her business project, My Skin Story – an online shop designed for people with sensitive skin conditions.
An eczema sufferer herself, Sakalauskaite was inspired after discovering natural solutions for her skin condition. “I am so excited that after what I have been through, I found something that helps. And what makes me happy every day is that I have a chance to share it with other women to make their lives better. I know how sad and hard it can be, so I truly hope that My Skin Story will help them to find what they are looking for!”
As well as a range of natural skincare and advice and tips about sensitive skin, My Skin Story, which is launching at the end of this month, will also offer nickel-free jewellery, cotton clothing and bedding, and natural vitamins and cleaning products. To this end the company has teamed up with distributors from Sakalauskaite’s home country Lithuania and the UK, including Aquatiere, Uoga Uoga, DZY, Me and Mine and Probiosanus.
