Superfood chocolate brand Doisy & Dam launched a 30-day crowdfunding campaign on Crowdcube last month only to see it achieve double its target investment.
In just 28 hours, Doisy & Dam’s campaign raised £300,000, releasing 15% equity to 83 investors, twice the £150,000 (for 8.11% equity) originally planned.
“We’re really happy with the result of our crowd funding raise – we worked really hard to make sure it was a success but didn’t bank on such overwhelming support from our customers and fans,” commented Ed Smith, co-founder, Doisy & Dam. “We managed to raise double our target in 28 hours through 84 of the most superdelish investors you could ask for. We’ve been working on proving the concept of high quality, organic luxury chocolate with no nasties and added superfoods and we feel like we’ve achieved that – now it’s time to expand. It’s a little daunting but really exciting – watch this space!”
The money raised will be used to finance the brand’s ambitious growth goals for 2016 which include increasing stockists from 400 to 1,000 as well as new product development.
Since its inception in 2013, the brand, which uses organic chocolate from the Dominican Republic, has grown its range from three to ten flavours of dark, milk and white chocolate.
