The Health Food Manufacturers’ Association (HFMA) has appointmented Sukh Gill as its new technical adviser.
Gill brings to the HFMA a wealth of experience in food regulation implementation and enforcement on a national, EU and global level, most recently as director of global regulatory services at Leatherhead Food Research, and with almost 30 years of service to public, private, and non-profit sectors.
He has also served as a representative on governmental, non-governmental and UK & EU industry expert working groups, making him a valuable expert resource for HFMA member companies as they meet the challenge of operating in one of the toughest technical and regulatory environments in the world. He replaces Nigel Baldwin of Intertek who served the HFMA for two years in the role.
At the same time, the HFMA is saying farewell to its former director and, latterly, its regulatory adviser, David Adams. David will take well-earned retirement after 13 years with the HFMA, during which time he played a vital role on food supplement issues, with particular focus on issues relating to the Food Supplements Directive and Nutrition and Health Claims Regulation.
Commenting on the changes, HFMA chair Robert Taylor said, “We are very pleased to welcome Sukh to the HFMA team, and I’m personally excited at the prospect of working side-by-side with such an experienced and well-respected industry stalwart. With Sukh’s wise counsel, we can continue to ensure we are providing our members with the most well-informed guidance to help them navigate their way through what constantly proves to be a tricky and ever-changing regulatory environment. We thank both David and Nigel for their invaluable service to the HFMA over the years and wish them both the best of luck for the future.”
