UK logistics company CM Downton has been certified by the Soil Association for the handling and storage of organic products.
“This is an important step forward for the business and our work with clients in the food and drink industry,” commented Andrew Downton, the company’s managing director. “It guarantees that our operations are suitable for the storage and transportation requirements of all organic goods, giving clients and consumers peace of mind that their products have been handled correctly at all times.”
Downton’s accreditation follows the signing in November of three new contracts including one with Pukka Herbs. Under the contract, Downton will be working directly with Pukka, moving 15-20 loads a week from the latter’s packaging operation in Brockworth. The products will be stored at a dedicated warehouse at Downton’s Gloucester headquarters before being transported to retailers across the country.
