The Organic Herb Trading Company (OHTC) has become the first UK Company certified by Australian Certified Organic (ACO) to export organic ingredients into South Korea, following the introduction of new regulations in January this year.
Jim Twine, managing director said: “This certification will enable us to export a full range of organic herbs and spices for the herbal tea, food, health & beauty and medicinal markets – and we are really proud to add another ‘first’ to a long list of achievements that started back in 1982 when our Founder, Mike Brook set up the company.”
“This reopens this important Asian organic market and gives us a real advantage,”’ added Laura Pashley, new commercial manager at OHTC. “It means that our customers in South Korea, where demand is increasing, can continue to rely on us to provide them with the very best organic ingredients available.”
OHTC has praised the Soil Association certification team for facilitating the certification with Australian Certified Organic (ACO). ACO was the first international certification body to gain accreditation to the South Korean organic standard, enabling it to provide organic certification in accordance with the Korean regulations administered by the South Korean Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (MAFRA).
