Independents’ Day, the national campaign promoting and celebrating UK independent businesses, is taking place on 4 July this year.
Organized by People 1st, the day is designed to give a voice to and raise awareness of independent retailers in their local communities. The campaign, now in its fourth year, also aims to spread the word about the amount of support available to independent businesses to aid them with training employees, becoming more competitive and growing their businesses.
All independent stores are being encouraged to get involved in the event – described as “a great opportunity to show the value of independent shops to the local community and encourage footfall to your shop on the day” – and plan activities in collaboration with other indie businesses in their area.
To make the most of the event, retailers can download campaign posters and get further information from www.indieday.co.uk.
Retailers are also being encouraged share their plans with the Independents’ Day team, by emailing a short paragraph and photos of activities to [email protected]. These will be shared on People 1st’s social networks and on its website.
So go on you indies, get involved!
