Year-round uses for leading natural allergy product HayMax has helped the brand achieve record sales in 2013.
Founder, Max Wiseberg, says the brand has seen steady sales growth since its launch in 2005. HayMax now offers four varieties, as well as a triple tin, which is available exclusively to independent retailers.
Wiseberg believes that the independent retailer has time to discuss various strategies with their customer to deal with their hayfever or airborne allergy. “People are often looking for natural, drug-free options to combat their allergies; they do not want to be taking drugs for up to five months of the year for their hayfever – or all year round for their dust or pet allergies.
The brand is also seeing growth due to its extension of use – for dust and pet allergies. Wiseberg says: “Many customers have been telling me for years that HayMax worked for their allergies to cats and others for their dust allergies. I developed HayMax for hayfever sufferers, and didn’t want to make claims about other allergies without evidence, so I decided to get it tested independently. The National Pollen and Aerobiology Research Unit (NPARU) carried out a study in 2012 and concluded that HayMax traps dust and pet allergens as well as over one third of pollen grains before they enter the body.”
He continues: “So now I market HayMax to dust and pet allergy sufferers, in fact to any airborne allergy sufferers as well as hayfever sufferers. This means that retailers can maximise their sales on HayMax and stock the product 12 months of the year, not just during the hayfever season.”
