Sunwarrior set to be vegan protein big hitter

Xynergy Health Products says that it expects to make a quick impact in the vegan and vegetarian protein category with its in-demand Sun Warrior range.

The West Sussex-based distributor and retailer recently acquired exclusive UK distributorship for Sunwarrior, a leading plant-based protein brand in the US.

Xynergy’s co-owner and sales director, Soo Cieszynska, told Natural Products: “We saw a real opportunity for Sunwarrior. It’s a great product but it has had a patchy presence in the UK market. We believe we can provide the business focus and sales experience to take the brand to new places.”

Sunwarrior Blend and Sunwarrior Classic Rice protein come in strikingly branded 1kg pouches and retail at £44.90. Warrior Blend uses several rich protein sources formulated to synergistically release the “explosive energy” potential of the raw, plant-based ingredients. Classic Rice Protein meanwhile combines the endosperm and bran from raw-sprouted wholegrain brown rice – containing all essential amino acids it’s easily digested and described as perfect for anyone looking to lose fat, build muscle and boost lean fitness.

The range is deliberately positioned as a food supplement. Comments Cieszynska: “Protein as a category is much bigger than just sports nutrition. It’s important for almost everyone, but it is especially useful for those convalescing, or post-operationally. And of course a product like Sunwarrior is ideal for veggies who are not getting their protein quota from their normal diet. And it also tastes great – with Chocolate (with cocoa powder and stevia), Vanilla and Natural variants”.

Each 1Kg pouch contains 47 servings, around six weeks supply, and each serving contains 15gm of protein – 30% of an adult’s daily requirement.

Sunwarrior is listed by The Health Store and CLF and is already in Revital and Planet Organic. A limited supply of free 21gm sample sachets are being made available to retailers to give consumers the chance to try the products.

Cieszynska says the reaction to the products from retailers has been “amazing”. She added: “This is a really in-demand range and I think it will just walk off the shelves and that’s why I’m confident that by Christmas, Sunwarrior will have made a real impact in the market.”
